Brain health is independently impaired by E-vaping and high-fat diet

Tobacco smoking and high-fat diet (HFD) independently impair short-term memory. E-cigarettes produce e-vapour containing flavourings nicotine. Here, we investigated whether inhalation interacts with HFD to affect memory neural integrity. Balb/c mice (7 weeks, male) were fed a (43% fat, 20 kJ/g) for 16 weeks. In the last 6 half of exposed tobacco-flavoured from nicotine-containing (18 mg/L) or nicotine-free (0 e-fluids twice daily. Short-term function was measured in week 15. alone did not function, but increased brain phosphorylated (p)-Tau astrogliosis marker, while neuron microglia levels decreased. E-vapour exposure significantly impaired independent Nicotine free induced greater changes compared nicotine included, systemic cytokines, p-Tau decreased postsynaptic density protein (PSD)-95 chow-fed mice, glycogen synthase kinase HFD-fed mice. Increased hippocampal apoptosis also differentially observed chow conclusion, nicotine, correlated inflammation, reduced PSD-95 level gliosis indicating inflammatory nature leading short term impairment.
